Managing Abandonment Issues Through Recovery edition by Mark Smith LCSW Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews

I had No idea what was going on in my marriage. My wife was just constantly being told she was depressed and all her actions were brought about by depression.

I was starting to think I was crazy and EVIL.
Like I was doing all these things without even knowing it. It felt at times like it was all my fault but I didn't even know what "it" was!

I read this book in about 5 hours.
And my wife agrees she has major Abandonment issues.

This is a great start. Now I don't feel I will take things so personally and now we can get on the right path!

Thank you very much for this great publication!
Very informative, describes perfectly the experience and the pain.Having read this book one is helped a lot already.
Mark Smith has written a groundbreaking book on an under researched area of psychotherapy. This book contains valuable chest nuggets of knowledge and powerful insights regarding core abandonement dysfunctions. While not as academic as Susan Anderson's book I feel that Smiths perspective is even more valuable. My only compliant with his book is the brevity. Since Anderson's book is considered the definitive guide in this field of therapy I wish Smith would have expanded his book to complement hers. His viewpoints and observations are strikingly accurate and in many cases superior to Anderson's. I understand that he is targeting an audience that may be resistant to overly complicated academic parlance but it does a disservice to what could have been offered. The book has so much more potential. Overall this book is HIGHLY recommended. I look forward to your future works.
If I could give this book zero stars I would. What a waste of time. The author has a patronizing, negative attitude and badly needs a little work on his anger management. He is apparently angry at the whole world, especially the poor readers who actually paid money for this book.
Very tough love, but ultimately gives you a mirror to see how you look when your abandoment issues take the best you. It is not a nice view but it is important in order to see one flaws and work on them.
As someone who has read a lot of self help books, I can tell you this one was one of the worst I read. I can't believe it got so many good ratings.
First, when I opened it in my kindle, the formatting was incorrect. For a book that was made solely for digital reading, you would think formatting would have been a priority. It seemed more often then not words would get cut off at the end of the sentence in random place and continue the next line down. Many times, it seemed entire words were missing.
I could have looked past the formatting issues if this book had any real value, but it doesn't. The writing was about the level of a college freshman. The content was about what I could find browsing any old website. It was very basic, with most of the book spent giving examples of people with abandoment issues, and very little of it spent showing people's progress and giving constructive tools. I know this wasn't meant to be a "workbook" persay, but I was still dissapointed. Maybe its useful for people who had no idea what abandonment issues are, to get them to realize this is a problem that exists, but there are many more better books that could have done that.
This is on par with the quality of a book I would see on clearance at Barnes and Nobles. Except I never would have paid $10 for it if I had known what I was paying for. This is one of the few purchases I regret, and I wish I could get my money back.
I'm a very rational and logical person, but felt out of control under certain circumstances. I used to call my friend and tell her that I'm acting crazy, but I can't stop myself. Now I know why. I've not finished the book yet to know how to deal with it. My only child does in 2011, so I was diagnosed with PTSD. I'm working with my therapist to figure out what feelings are from abandonment issue and which are from PTSD
